Kate Szal, NP earned her Bachelors and Masters in the Science of Nursing in 2006 at Regis College in Weston, MA. She was nominated to the National Honor Society, Sigma Theta Tau while she was there.
Kate began her career at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, MA in the Department of Vascular Interventional Radiology. In addition to first-assisting the physicians, she independently performed many procedures including portacaths and dialysis catheters.
Since this time Kate has worked for the Neurosurgical Team at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA, while continuing to perform vascular procedures on a part-time basis. While working in Neurosurgery her primary focus was on neuro-interventional procedures including acute strokes, aneurysm coilings and AVM treatments.
In January of 2013, Kate joined PrimaCARE, P.C. Center for Vascular Diseases. In addition to seeing patients in the office, Kate had an essential role in the opening of the first outpatient angiography suite in Massachusetts which performed over 300 procedures in its first year. She actively manages the suite, obtained/maintains AAAASF Certification and performs procedures such as portacaths and dialysis catheters. Kate is also particularly interested in vein therapies including sclerotherapy. In 2014, she was promoted to Practice Manager and now oversees the entire practice.
